Our veterans are the targets of a silent war. A war which few people even understand, and fewer still speak of.

For years we, the War Veterans, have fought for this nation because we loved it. With all our hearts, minds and souls we loved America and what it stood for. And we sacrificed a lot for it.

For some of us, we sacrificed our marriages.

For others, like myself, we've suffered some physical trauma which will never recover.

And for the third, the most hurt and the least cared for, their damage goes beyond the realm of mere physical and to their mind.

For the last group, memories surface and are re-lived. We need to take care of this group the most. We need to make sure that we provide the psychological care that these veterans require, in order to return to society and once again build connections with other Americans.

As they once protected us during their years of service, now it is our turn to be grateful and protect them.
